Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler are going their separate ways.
Multiple outlets report that the model and Elvis actor have broken up. The news was confirmed after much internet speculation: earlier this month, photos surfaced of Gerber on vacation in Cabo San Lucas without Butler.
The two were first linked together in late 2021. Several months later, they attended the 2022 Met Gala together.
Their relationship entered the spotlight in 2023, as Gerber was by Butler’s side during his press tour for Elvis. They attended the biopic’s premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, W’s Best Performances Party, as well as the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. In 2024, they also attended the premiere of Butler’s film Dune: Part Two in London, as well as the opening night of the hit Broadway play Oh, Mary.
Despite the high profile appearances, the duo has rarely spoken about each other in public. “Honestly, I feel like so few things in my life are private, and that is one of the things that I try to keep as sacred as possible,” she told WSJ Magazine in February 2024. Earlier that month, Butler kept mum when asked about Gerber by Esquire. “I’m happy,” he said.
Previously, Gerber dated Euphoria actor Jacob Elordi. Butler, meanwhile, was in a long term relationship with Spring Breakers star Vanessa Hudgens.
Both Gerber and Butler have a number of projects on the horizon. Gerber will act in the upcoming Amazon series Overcompensating, whereas Butler will star as Patrick Bateman in Luca Guadagnino’s highly anticipated remake of American Psycho.
