Jeremy Clarkson’s Farmer’s Dog pub has introduced some new changes for 2025 after suffering a ‘total disaster’.
The former Top Gear presenter, 64, revealed his venture, which follows the success of his Diddly Squat farm and shop, was facing a series of problems in the run up to Christmas.
Clarkson revealed behind-the-scenes issues involving missing pint glasses, difficulties making profits and further expenses he was dealing with.
Writing in his column in The Times last month, he said: ‘It’s galling to see how much effort is required to make so little money on the farm.
‘It’s worse at the pub. The customers are coming. There’s no problem there. But turning their visits into a profit is nigh-on impossible.’
The Farmer’s Dog, which opened its doors to the public in August, has now introduced a series of changes, including lunchtime bookings, in a hopeful message looking ahead to the new year.
A post on the site’s Instagram page announced: ‘And just like that 2025 was upon us… We’ve trialled January bookings at lunch time, and we’re going to see how they go…
‘For now, exciting news – February bookings are now OPEN for dinner and Sunday Carvery only…
‘Reminder – Monday evenings are now open for some relaxed evening drinking and sausage roll eating… Are you a local club wanting a space to get together? Just get in touch…
‘More to come soon… This is just the beginning… 2025 is full of things to look forward to… What are you most wanting to see from us here?’
This comes after the pub’s plans for 2025 were shared, with an earlier post revealing it would now be open for six days a week, and that doors would be opening even earlier.
The announcement also shared reminders to locals about weekly nights for ‘a good old fashioned pint and natter’, and urged other fans to book in advance.
It said: ‘*GOOD NEWS!* It’s been just four months since we opened our doors at The Farmer’s Dog and we are learning as we go..and listening to your feedback, so here are our initial plans for 2025:
‘1. As of 3rd January, you’ll be able to book at lunch! That’s right, you can now ensure you’ve got a spot.. Get booking whilst you can! As always, we will also leave some room everyday for walk ins too..
‘2. We are now also going to open 6 whole days a week, Tuesday – Sunday. AND, as if that wasn’t enough, we are going to open our doors earlier, so you don’t have to queue waiting in the cold. The Hawkstone will be flowing from 11am..
‘3. Monday nights – if you’re local to The Farmer’s Dog, then this night is for you – whether it’s your Darts Team, or your Aunt Sally Team in the summer ..come see us on a Monday night for a good old fashioned pint and a natter. Drinks, and delicious bar snacks only. Old school pub style!
‘Lastly, we’ll be announcing February bookings very soon, so keep your eyes peeled…’
Several fans have commented saying they ‘can’t wait’ for their future bookings, while others praised the ‘excellent’ food and ambiance.
This comes after Clarkson shared his fears of not making money back after reportedly splurging £1,000,000 on his pub.
Amid backlash over prices for food and merch, he said last year: ‘This place is costing us a fortune. God knows if we’ll ever make our money back.’
Meanwhile, his Diddly Squat Farm Shop has shut its doors for eight weeks across January and February, for its annual routine closure.
