If you thought method dressing was over, think again. On Sunday, Jennifer Lopez didn’t just revive the red carpet trend, but took it up a notch at the world premiere of her first movie musical, Kiss of the Spider Woman, at Park City’s Eccles Theatre during the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.
For the screening, Lopez wore a sheer black lace dress by Valdrin Sahiti that featured long sleeves, a slit in the back, and a body-hugging silhouette embroidered with crystal Hassanzadeh jewelry that formed a spiderweb-like effect from her neck down to her legs. She accessorized with a black velvet clutch, a sparkly cocktail ring on her index finger that complemented her nude manicure, and a pair of black platform pumps with rounded toes.
Lopez’s caramel-colored hair was pulled back into a messy updo with side-swept bangs and loose curls, while the rest of her glam included a nude glossy lip, feathery eyelashes, and a bronzy contour.
Following the premiere, J.Lo got emotional while receiving a standing ovation for her performance as screen star Ingrid Luna.
“I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life,” she told the crowd, per Variety. “The reason I even wanted to be in this business is because my mom would sit me in front of the TV and [West Side Story] would come on once a year. I was mesmerized and was like, ‘That’s what I want to do.’ This is the first time I actually got to do it.”
“This man made my dream come true,” she added of director Bill Condon, who worked on other movie musicals like, Chicago, Dreamgirls, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast remake, and The Greatest Showman.
