The parents of a disadvantaged young Liverpool fan have thanked the club after giving him a day he will never forget.
Isaac Carney, a 6-year-old boy with Wolf-Hirshhorn syndrome, received special support from the Reds.
Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome is an extremely rare chromosomal disorder caused by a defect in the short arm of chromosome 4.
People born with this disease have delayed growth and development.
As part of the International Day of Disabled Persons celebrations, Carney was treated to a number of special moments by Liverpool.
First, captain Virgil van Dijk and star man Mo Salah surprised the youngster at his school, Northwood.

Carney was invited as the game’s mascot and clearly enjoyed the special day
His mother, Melissa, cried as she watched her son experience a dream night.
“It was unbelievable.”

He was then invited to the AXA Training Center where he met with the rest of the team.
There, he was informed of the next leg of his mini-adventure with Van Dijk and was invited to be the mascot for the game against Man City at Anfield.
Carney and his parents were asked about the experience in an interview on BBC Breakfast on Boxing Day.
Carney said he had a “fun” time while his mother, Melissa, explained the details.
“I couldn’t believe it,” she said. Basically, all children with the syndrome are different and develop differently.
“Isaac has delays, learning disabilities, low muscle tone and is undergoing physical therapy.

“We were told he might never walk again. When we see him walking on the field with Virgil, we think it’s amazing. It’s just a miracle. It’s honestly unbelievable.
“We’ve said it every day since then: It’s not every day you get to see your child’s dreams come true. Looking back, it doesn’t seem real.”
Liverpool won the match against City 2-0 and currently maintain a point difference over Chelsea, who are second in the Premier League, with four games remaining.
The Reds host Leicester City on Thursday night, while the Blues host Fulham five hours earlier.
