Trey and Ken start with Hunter Biden’s pardon. Trey makes a strong case that it didn’t have to be a terrible move on President Biden’s part. Still, it’s wrong and bad for Democrats because it involves lying and unnecessary attacks on the Justice Department. Ken argues that the pardon was not only necessary but justified. In Ken’s view, the main problem was that the pardons didn’t cover enough people, and perhaps because of mental breakdowns, the wording wasn’t appropriate.
Next is a discussion of Trump’s nominees, with a special focus on Hegseth and Kennedy. While they agree that Mr. Hegseth is a bad candidate, they have different views on what will happen next. Ken believes one possibility is Venus flytrap. This is one bad candidate to keep your eye on from the other candidates.
We conclude by looking at the oral argument in United States v. Scumetti. Ken delves into the legal issues and the possibility that this case will be returned under a parental rights framework rather than the 14th Amendment. Trey suggests that in the postliberal world we live in, we are primarily concerned with the good ends of people, not some minimal liberal vision of justice.
