Huawei’s Watch 4 Pro was launched in June last year, but the company has now relaunched it with the Space Exploration special edition, which is now available for pre-order in China ahead of its release on April 12th.
The price is 4,999 yuan (about $691 or 637 euros at current exchange rates). It’s clearly inspired by space rocket designs, with a ceramic bezel and sapphire glass with a diamond-like coating. This makes it twice as hard as other glasses, which should make it more resistant to damage.
This watch comes with a titanium bracelet and supports Ultra Wide Band (UWB). It can be used for no-touch access to the Aito M9 car, co-developed by Huawei, and unlocks when the wearer comes within 8 meters of the car.
You can also control your car with your voice from the watch, open the windows and trunk, and check the status of your car from the Aito app on your watch. There is also a dedicated Aito watch face that you can customize to your liking.
The Watch 4 Pro Space Exploration Edition has an eSIM, which allows you to receive calls even when your phone isn’t nearby. Huawei boasts that it has 13 health metrics and more accurate health reporting than other smartwatches.
It is 5ATM/50m waterproof, measures 49.1mm in length, 12.9mm in thickness, and weighs 68g. The screen is 1.5 inch 466×466 AMOLED. It can be paired with phones running Huawei’s HarmonyOS 2.0 and above, Android 8.0 and above, and even iOS 13 and above. In normal mode, battery life is advertised at 4.5 days, while in battery saver mode it lasts up to 21 days.
