The Freeride World Tour Val Thorens Pro is set to go down in less than 12 hours, with athletes competing on a brand-new face for the 2025 competition, the Lac Noir. 45cm of fresh snowfall mean the competition will surely be epic.
So how, exactly, does a Freeride World Tour athlete decide what they’re going to hit in the lead up to a competition? They don’t get a practice run down the face and they don’t get any second tries, so they need to know their plans before they get up there. Maxime Chabloz shared his approach to the new face in a recent vlog.
The Val Thorens Pro is set to get started at 9:00 AM CET, with the live show kicking off at 8:45 AM CET. You’ll be able to watch the event live on the Freeride World Tour website.
Maxime Chabloz finished the Freeride World Tour’s first stop, the Baqueira Beret Pro, with a 3020, putting him in 15th place both overall and at the event. His run was epic, though he came pretty darn close to wiping out throughout (leading to the lower score). I look forward to seeing what he can pull off in this next event.
