The Miami Heat accusing Jimmy Butler of not playing hard in their 119-108 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday was a breaking point in the two side’s relationship, according to Shams Charania.
“It has reached a point of no return. The one issue that has circulated over the past 24 hours is the Heat implying to Jimmy Butler and people around him that he might not have been putting forth or playing his hardest in Wednesday’s win over New Orleans. And that was a breaking point of sorts,” said Charania.
Butler, who had just returned from a five-game absence, finished the game with nine points and four rebounds in 25 minutes.
Butler has asked the Heat for a trade, with the Suns, Rockets, Mavs, and Warriors as preferred destinations.
Charania also described the relationship between the two sides are “irreparable.”
