Kazem Ghalibabadi said in a post on his X account on Monday that Grossi will arrive in the Iranian capital on Wednesday night and will meet with Iran’s president, foreign minister and the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI). .
He added that the visit is a continuation of exchanges between Iran and the IAEA and is in line with the joint statement issued during Mr. Grossi’s visit to Tehran on March 4, 2023.
In a joint statement, the Iranian government and the United Nations nuclear watchdog acknowledged that active engagement between the two countries could pave the way for a broader agreement between the parties.
The two leaders also agreed that bilateral exchanges will be conducted in a spirit of cooperation and in full compliance with the authorities of the IAEA and Iran’s rights and obligations under the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement.
The joint statement came after the IAEA condemned accusations of Israeli influence over Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities.
Foreign Minister Ghalibabadi also stated in the X-Post that Iran will continue to cooperate with the IAEA within the framework of its obligations under the safeguards agreement, unless some countries harm the growing relationship between the two countries with political intentions. He said he was determined.
Grossi said on Sunday that technical consultations would be held in Tehran on all aspects related to the joint statement.
He added: “It is essential that we make substantial progress in implementing the joint statement agreed with Iran in March 2023. My visit to Tehran will be of great importance in that regard.” .
In 2015, Iran signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with six countries around the world, proving to the world the peaceful nature of its nuclear program.
However, Washington’s unilateral withdrawal in 2018 and subsequent reimposition of sanctions on Iran left the deal’s future in limbo.
In 2019, Iran began withdrawing restrictions it had accepted under the JCPOA.
