The 2025 Golden Globes are upon us, with just hours to go until some of Hollywood’s biggest names take to the red carpet.
This year’s ceremony is being held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, with Emilia Pérez, Conclave, Anora, and The Brutalist all contenders for top gongs.
Zendaya has also been recognised for her role in Challengers, while Timothée Chalamet is nominated for portraying Bob Dylan in the A Complete Unknown biopic.
Meanwhile, Wicked leads Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are both up for trophies, as are Queer’s Daniel Craig and The Substance star Demi Moore.
Rounding off the list of front-runners is Nicole Kidman, who looks set to take home a prize for her new erotic drama Babygirl.
With awards season officially kicking off tonight, the excitement is palpable… but what does this mean for film and TV fans in the UK? And can we get in on the action?
We’ve got the answers.
What time do the Golden Globes start in the UK tonight?
The ceremony starts at 1:00am GMT, which is 8pm Eastern time in the States.
It typically lasts between three and four hours, meaning you’ll have to be a real night owl if you plan on staying awake to catch up on the highlights.
Can you watch the Golden Globes on TV in the UK tonight?
Alas, there isn’t an official channel where you can watch the Golden Globes in the UK.
However, we do not doubt that the likes of X and TikTok will pull through with the most meme-able moments of the night, ensuring everyone can stay in the loop regardless of time zones.
Best bits will also be uploaded to YouTube and shown in news broadcasts the next day.
What’s more, clips from the event and winner announcements, plus speeches, will be available live on the Golden Globes’ website and social channels.
For US cinephiles, the ceremony will air live on CBS and will be available to stream on Paramount+.
Golden Globes nominations
Following last year’s Barbie and Oppenheimer battle, leading the pack tonight is the movie musical Emilia Pérez, which has 10 nominations.
The Brutalist has seven, and Conclave has six.
As for TV, The Bear leads with five noms, while Only Murders in the Building could take home four gongs. Shogun also has four opportunities to win big.
Who is hosting the Golden Globes?
American actress and comedian Nikki Glaser will take on the role of Golden Globes host this year, making her the first woman to do so.
She’s no stranger to an outrageous joke or two, having already roasted fellow celebrities on public platforms with her stand-up material.
Speaking ahead of the ceremony, the 40-year-old TV star said: ‘I am absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Golden Globes.
‘It’s one of my favourite nights of television, and now I get a front-row seat (actually, I think I have to host from the stage).
‘It’s one of the few times that show business not only allows but encourages itself to be lovingly mocked (at least, I hope so… God, I hope so).
‘It’s an exciting, yet challenging gig because it’s live, unpredictable, and in front of Hollywood’s biggest stars (who also might be getting wasted while seated next to their recent exes).’
