Elliot sees it all go wrong against on-song Guodong
Elliot Slessor was steamrollered by Xiao Guodong.
China’s World No. 17 hit a 54 break to take a tight first frame, before Slessor levelled, thanks to by far his biggest table visit – a calm 72.
But 35-year-old Guodong, the 2024 Wuhan Open champion, then notched four sizeable breaks to wrap up victory.
First he went ahead with a deft 102.
Next came breaks of 66, 69 and 83 to book his place in the quarter-finals.
