A Labor candidate’s boast that he had won the support of “lifelong Conservative voters” has been branded “deceptive” after one of the party’s local councilors was revealed.
Dr Simon Overfer, Labor’s general election candidate in Stroud, praised how a woman named Millie ditched the Conservative Party to support his campaign.
In a video Dr. Offer posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), Milley described herself as a “lifelong centrist conservative.”
She explained how she is currently supporting the Labor Party and Dr Ofer ahead of the July 4 general election.
However, it soon emerged that she was actually Millie Hill, who was elected Labor councilor for Stroud District Council in this month’s local elections.
When challenged about the video, Ms Hill told MailOnline that the last time she voted Conservative was when Prime Minister David Cameron was leader of the party.
And she admitted that she supported former Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbyn in the 2019 general election.

Mr Stroud is expected to be one of the key battlegrounds between Labor and the Conservatives in the July 4 general election.
The Conservatives won the Gloucestershire seat in 2019 by fewer than 4,000 votes.
In a post about X, Dr. Overfer wrote: “People like Millie are voting for change – will you join them?
Hill also shared a video explaining why she supports Labor, in which she said: “I’ve been a centrist Conservative all my life, but I think the party has really changed.” And I think the last 14 years have caused great damage to this country.
“So I’ve been paying close attention to the Labor Party, and they have very exciting policies on a lot of things that I care about, like the economy, the NHS, mental health issues, green energy, and even potholes. I think it is.
“Having met Simon Overfer who is a local GP and has worked here for 30 years, I think he will be a great councilor for Stroud as he really understands this community.”
“For the first time in a really long time, I’m optimistic and excited to vote in the general election.”
It has since been revealed by the Guido Fawkes website that Ms Hill is a local Labor councilor for Stroud District Council’s Cam East ward.
Asked why she didn’t mention this fact in her video posted by Dr Over, Ms Hill told MailOnline: He was recently elected to the Labor Council. ”
When her claim to be a “lifelong centrist Conservative” was challenged, she explained: “I last voted Conservative under David Cameron.”
Mr Hill added: “I voted Labor in 2019 with Jeremy Corbyn.”
Social media users asked about the video of Ms Hill posted by Dr Overr, with one person commenting: “That’s Millie Hill, the Labor MP for Cam East, right?” Is that the best you have? It’s a dirty job.”
Another added: “This is a Labor MP!” Simon, it’s amazing how you have the audacity to call on people to vote for you when you’re so content with being so blatantly deceptive during an election.
“Is this what the voters of Stroud can expect from you as an MP?” Absolutely shameful. ”
