Lewis Hamilton has embarked on his first on-track outing with his new Ferrari team, sampling a 2022 F1 car at the team’s Fiorano test track.
Seven-time world champion Hamilton took the wheel of the F1-75 on a foggy Wednesday morning as hordes of Italian tifosi flocked to Ferrari’s proprietary test venue in Maranello to spot a glimpse of their new hero.
Donned in a red overall and a bright yellow helmet, Hamilton set his first laps of a cold and overcast filming day, and will be later joined by Charles Leclerc as Ferrari captures a full day of content from Hamilton’s first driving day.
The Briton has been in Maranello all week to meet his new team, visiting Enzo Ferrari’s famous mansion on Monday which produced an instant classic image of Hamilton posing in front of the house in his inimitable sartorial style.
The 40-year-old then got a seat made and worked through driving procedures in the Italian team’s simulator.
