On 18 May 2024 Hereditary Count Alexander Fugger von Babenhausen and Gabriella Beatriz Stoudemire got married at the St. Moritz Church in a very sunny Augsburg, Germany, the city, where the Fugger family is originally from. Gilles Mendel designed the wedding gown. The wedding was led by Monseigneur Bertram Meier, Bishop of Augsburg, Pastor Helmut Haug of St. Moritz and Pastor Felix Siefritz of St. Markus. The witnesses for the groom were Hereditary Prince Franz-Albrecht zu Oettingen-Spielberg and Count Nikolaus Fugger von Babenhausen, Calypso Saccani and Cranford Stoudemire. Unfortunately, after the wedding, the guests came out of the church first, and surrounded the bridal couple, so it wasn’t easy to photograph them. The reception took place at the Damenhof, one of the inner courts of the city palace of the Fugger family, followed by a gala at Schloss Wellenberg.
The couple had invited 400 guests, among them Prince Jean-Christophe and Princess Olympia Napoléon Bonaparte, Duke Franz of Bavaria (von Bayern) with partner, Prince Leopold and Princess Ursula of Bavaria, Prince Ludwig and Princess Sophie-Alexandra of Bavaria and Hereditary Princess Cleopatra zu Oettingen-Spielberg, Prince Casimir and Princess Alana zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, Rolf Sachs and Princess Mafalda von Hessen, Princess Anunciata von und zu Liechtenstein and Emanuele Musini, Prince Josef and Princess María Claudia von und zu Liechtenstein.
The engagement of Hereditary Count Alexander Fugger von Babenhausen and Gabriella Beatriz Stoudemire became already known in December 2021. The couple celebrated their civil marriage on 21 May 2022 at Babenhausen and had planned their religious wedding soon afterwards. The event was however postponed because of the serious illness of the bride’s father. Their first child, a son called Otto, was born early 2023.
Alexander was born in 1981 as third of five children of Hubertus Fürst Fugger von Babenhausen and his wife Alexandra née Princess zu Oettingen-Oettingen und Oettingen-Spielberg. As his elder brother, Count Leopold, renounced his rights after marrying Annina Kammer, Alexander is the heir to the title of Fürst. However, he has already taken over the family business in 2022. Gabriella was born in 1987 as daughter of Sterling Cranford Stoudemire (1950-2023) and Dora-Beatriz Cortés Gelpi. Her grandparents were Sterling Aubrey Stoudemire and Mary Arthur Billups from North Carolina, USA, Ignacio Cortés del Valle and Dora Gelpi Domenech from Puerto Rico.
