“Why would we want to limit the spectacle of competition based on gender?” Full official trailer for Queen of the Ring, a true story about one of the pioneering female professional wrestlers in the early days of wrestling. Published online. The film premiered at the 2024 Buffalo Film Festival last year and has been touring film festivals around the country, with a release scheduled for a few months later in March 2025. It was founded at a time when women’s wrestling was banned in most parts of America, and was founded by Mildred Burke, a pioneer in the sport and the first female athlete and champion professional wrestler to win a million dollars. It’s a true story. Emily Bett Rickards stars as Mildred Burke. A single mother from a small town risks changing the culture as she conquers America’s most masculine sport and becomes the first female athlete to earn $1 million. The ensemble cast includes Josh Lucas, Francesca Eastwood, Tyler Posey, Marie Avgeropoulos, Adam DeMoss, Kelly Berglund, Damaris Lewis, and more. This is a great trailer. It packs a punch and introduces quite a bit of the story, but it’s enough to keep you interested and want to watch it. It’s worth a look.

I was prepared to take the risk of changing the culture. Queen of the Rings is written and directed by American indie filmmaker Ash Avildsen, who previously directed What Now and American Satan, and most recently Paradise. He is the creator and director of the City series. Based on the book “The Queen of the Ring: Sex, Muscles, Diamonds, and the Making of an American Legend” by Jeff Lean. Produced by Ash Avildsen, Aimee Schoof, Isen Robbins, and BD Gunnel. The film premiered a few months ago at the 2024 Buffalo Film Festival.
