Donald Trump reportedly made a cheeky dig at Joe Biden as they met outside the White House before the inauguration ceremony, according to a lip reader.
Jeremy Freeman, an expert in lip-reading, suggested that the exchange took place amid comments about the chilly weather conditions in Washington DC.
As Mr Trump and his wife Melania Trump arrived at the White House on January 20, they were greeted by Mr Biden and his wife Jill with the words: “Welcome home.”
The conversation then turned to the cold, with Trump remarking, “How are you? Its so cold. I need to do my coat up I’m freezing.”
Biden responded that he was “freezing too”. Trump then light-heartedly said “shut up Biden”, adding that it was “colder than when we ski”.
Biden agreed, saying “I know, it’s hell” and mentioned he was “going inside”. Trump echoed the sentiment, replying “yeah, me too” before the group entered the White House for tea ahead of Trump’s swearing-in at the Capitol Building later that day, reports the Irish Star.
Trump is set to begin his second term with the Republican Party in full control of Washington, ready to transform various institutions. He plans to take immediate action post-ceremony, with executive orders prepared to initiate deportations, boost fossil fuel production, and diminish civil service protections for government employees.
An incoming White House official has revealed that Mr Trump plans to issue a series of orders aimed at reshaping America’s immigration policies on his first day in office – including ending asylum access, deploying troops to the southern border and terminating American birthright citizenship.
Earlier, Vice-President Kamala Harris, who was defeated by Donald Trump in the presidential race, welcomed JD Vance and his wife Usha Vance, along with First Gentleman Doug Emhoff to the White House.
The group posed together for a photo before entering the building.
