Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice said this after his team’s disappointing 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday (January 18).
The Gunners led 2-0 with goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz, but Mikel Arteta’s side turned things around when Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins equalized late in the second half.
The result means Liverpool have extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to six points, with Arne Slott’s side still having a game in hand against their title rivals.
But frustration was in the air at the Emirates Stadium after Mikel Merino felt he had sealed victory for his team in the dying embers.
Merino’s shot was deflected by Havertz and was ultimately ruled out as a handball by VAR, a decision that divided fans.
“Yesterday was a very unfortunate day, but it’s time to stay positive and keep believing. Thank you for all the love,” Rice said in an Instagram message.
