Manager David Ornstein has suggested more business for Tottenham Hotspur this month in a bid to ease Ange Postecoglou’s injury crisis.
Spurs have announced the signing of Czech goalkeeper Antonin Kinski, who joined North London Giants from Slavia Prague for £12.5m. The signing of the 21-year-old was crucial as Postecoglou needed to cover for number one Guglielmo Vicario, who was sidelined with a long-term ankle injury.
But Vicario isn’t the only notable absentee in the Lilywhites’ recent lineup. Defensive duo Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are also on the injured list, while left-backs Destiny Oudogie and Ben Davies are also facing fitness issues.
This had a huge impact on Spurs’ season, dropping them to 12th place in the Premier League standings. Postecoglou’s side have lost 10 times this season, but Ornstein insists there is no pressure on the Australian manager.
Ornstein: ‘Tottenham will move more’
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy intends to continue working on the market for Postecoglou
Ornstein instead expects Tottenham’s top brass to further support Postecoglou this month, with more players joining. An Athletic journalist told NBC Sports:
“They want to do more work in January. They want to strengthen their defense as well as their attack. Not as much as in the midfield because they haven’t suffered as many injuries in that department.”
“I think there are some loans on the table, nothing imminent, but discussions are ongoing and perhaps like Kinski, we are bringing forward some that we had already planned since the summer. It is possible that a permanent agreement could be reached.
“They don’t have a profitability or sustainability problem with PSR, which means they have the finances to do something.”

Tottenham are looking to bring in a number of defenders to help Postecoglou deal with the absence of Van de Ven and Romero. There have been rumors of a move for Udinese’s Thomas Christensen, with the Danish centre-back potentially costing around £16.5 million.
Meanwhile, former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori is also reportedly on the Lilywhites’ wish list. He has fallen down the pecking order at AC Milan and could be eyeing a return to the Premier League to reignite his career in England.
In attack, the north London outfit are reportedly monitoring Brighton & Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson. The 20-year-old Irish forward is available on loan this month and could help ease the goalscoring burden from summer signing Dominic Solanke for £65m.
However, Randall Kolo Muani is considered the most likely addition to the attack. Spurs are one of several clubs vying to sign the Paris Saint-Germain forward, with Ornstein confirming their interest in him on Monday night.
