Shylock Zulu (28), of Themba Ndlovu Homestead, Mashala Village, Hwange, was convicted and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for stock theft, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is reporting,
The court heard that on 8 January 2025, at the Mashala grazing area, Zulu unlawfully took a black-and-white male goat belonging to Thabani Sibanda. He slaughtered the goat and proceeded to Sibanda’s homestead, where he sold the meat from the carcass to the complainant for USD$15, falsely claiming it was bushbuck meat.
Sibanda became suspicious that the meat could be from his missing goat.
Zulu was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, with three months suspended on condition he does not commit a similar offence within the next five years.
The remaining three months were suspended on condition that the accused restitutes the complainant with ZWG$1,057.
