Former Chelsea player Joe Cole says he finds it “frustrating” the club have to resort to re-signing former player Marc Guehy as they would have to “fork out” to sign a centre-back. There is.
Chelsea have been doing well in the Premier League this season. They currently sit in 4th place, finished 6th last season and 12th the season before.
However, their defense is currently the worst of the top five, and several other teams are also better at the back.
The Blues are set to target former academy player Guehi, who is said to have made a bid after receiving suggestions that he needs to improve.
Former Blues Cole detailed his frustration with signing Guehi, although he acknowledged he is a quality asset.
“The priority for Chelsea is central defense. Benoît Badiashile is injured and Wesley Fofana has been great but keeps breaking down,” Cole told Paddy Power.
“Levy Colwill is a young player who is doing well, but he still needs to grow and improve and I’m sure he will.
“It’s very frustrating for Chelsea because they released a player like Marc Guehi and he became what I saw as a top centre-half (at the time).”

“Guehi is a suitable player and is currently in England’s starting XI and Chelsea will have to fork out to get him back. That is an area that needs to be resolved at Chelsea.
“I like my relationship with Marc Gehi, but it’s frustrating having to go buy players you sell. Chelsea do that too often!”
“If there’s a need and it’s the right move, you have to do it. I don’t think there’s a better centre-half in this country outside of Manchester City and Arsenal. He’s as good as any player. He’ll get better. ”
Indeed, Chelsea have named a couple in recent seasons, selling and re-signing Romelu Lukaku and David Luiz, and now appear to be on track for Guehi.
