Despite being the parents of two toddlers, fiancés (and former child stars) Brenda Song and Macaulay Culkin still have time to cheer on their favorite basketball team: the Los Angeles Lakers. Sitting courtside at a recent matchup against the Boston Celtics, the couple were all smiles as the Lakers cruised to a 119-76 victory over their east coast rivals. It was a rare date night for the duo, who typically spend their time at home with their sons, Dakota and Carson. Oh, and as for the low-key PDA? It was very PG-rated (the couple held hands).
“Mack and I are both very antisocial,” Song recently told Bustle. “Our kids have more of a social calendar than I will ever have.”
Song and Culkin, who have been engaged since 2022, both grew up in the spotlight. After skyrocketing to fame for his role in Home Alone, Culkin went on to star in a number of blockbuster hits; Song, for her part, was a fixture of Disney Channel for her role in shows like The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and The Sweet Life on Deck. Perhaps unsurprisingly, both actors want a wholly different childhood for their own kids.
“[Dakota] was so scared of all the cameras” when the family made their first public appearance together in 2023, Song told Bustle. “That’s one of the reasons why we sort of keep them away [from the spotlight]. They did not understand what was happening.”
While Culkin has acted sparingly since his days a child star, Song recently returned to the spotlight with a role in The Last Showgirl. The film stars Pamela Anderson as a middle-aged Las Vegas showgirl who must retire after her show is abruptly canceled.
“I had just dropped off my son at preschool and was with Mack. We were sitting at Costco and it hadn’t opened yet,” she told Bustle. “And my agent calls me and she’s like, ‘Hey, I have this really great script for you. Do you have a second? What are you doing?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, I’m sitting in the parking lot at Costco before it opens.’ She goes, ‘I need to get you a job.’”
