“I’ve heard they’re getting the calls and they’re making the calls at cornerback and wide receiver,” Blair said, as seen in the video player above.
“…The names I’ve heard them call are actually interesting. It’s KJ Osborn, it’s Tiquan Thornton. And the reason Thornton has some value to the team is because he has that kind of speed. And I think it’s because he can do that.” So all the coaches look at a player like that and say, “He can do something.”
“So if you want to add some maturity to the room, maybe in a player-to-player swap, trading Tiquan Thornton to the Carolina Panthers to get Adam Thielen. For example, that might be something you could consider. I mean, right? Maybe send a pick to the Panthers on top of that.
“As far as cornerbacks go, they obviously haven’t traded Christian Gonzalez. I don’t think they want to trade Jonathan Jones, but I think they’re open to trading everyone else.”
Thielen’s scenario is an interesting one. He is in his 11th professional season (second season with the Panthers) and has enjoyed a very productive career. However, he has not played since Week 3 due to a hamstring injury.
It’s no secret that the Patriots are undergoing a complete rebuild. Would Thielen want to come to New England? Or are competing teams more appealing to him? Thielen is 34 years old and has only played in six career playoff games. He’s never won a Super Bowl.
The Patriots lack top talent at wide receiver, but they do have a lot of depth, and if the right deal comes through before the trade deadline, they could convert that depth into a draft pick or two. It makes sense to change it to .
