The blood bank has sent out an urgent plea to the public to donate blood over the weekend, as reserves are running so low they can barely cover one day.
Head of the blood centre Androula Panayiotou said anyone in good health can donate blood on Saturday and Sunday at the blood donation centres across the island.
“Our reserves have diminished significantly […] we have reserves for one day,” Panayiotou told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).
Panayiotou said that unfortunately many donors were currently ill with flu.
