“This is a real village…making Paddington, and it all comes together in this lovingly handcrafted film.” A fun behind-the-scenes feature has been released. It’s already in theaters in the UK, and will be released in the US a few months later, in January 2025. Following in the footsteps of the popular Paddington (2014) and Paddington 2 (2017), comes the adorable adventures of Paddington the Bear. In the film, Paddington and his adopted family, the Browns, decide to visit his Aunt Lucy in Peru, but end up finding themselves in the Amazon rainforest (in the spirit of Werner Herzog’s Fitzcarraldo). I got lost and ended up stranded in the Andes Mountains. This entertaining sequel to the Anglo-Peruvian comedy adventure stars Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer, Madeline Harris, Samuel Joslyn, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Carla Tass, Antonio Banderas, plus Olivia Colman as “Pastor Mother” will appear. Also adding the voices of Ben Whishaw as Paddington Brown and Imelda Staunton as Aunt Lucy. The film was shot on a huge set in the UK, with some pickup shots in Colombia and Peru. This video has some making-of footage showing all the huge sets and tons of extras needed to make everything look more vivid and authentic.
This is a behind-the-scenes promotional video for “Paddington” directed by Peruvian Dougal Wilson. From YouTube:
You can watch the main UK trailer for Wilson’s Paddington in Peru here and the US trailer again here.
Paddington in Peru brings to Peru the story of Paddington, who returns to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now lives in a retired bear house. A thrilling adventure begins as a mystery takes the Brown family on an unexpected journey through the Amazon rainforest and to the top of Peru’s mountains. Paddington in Peru was directed by British filmmaker Dougal Wilson, who made his feature directorial debut after making numerous music videos, short films and commercials. The screenplay will be written by Mark Burton, John Foster, and James Lamont. From a story by Mark Burton, Simon Farnaby and Paul King. Based on the character of Michael Bond. Produced by Rosie Allison and David Heyman. Studiocanal will be releasing Paddington in Peru for the first time in UK cinemas from 8 November 2024 this autumn. Sony then plans to release the sequel in U.S. theaters early in the new year, on January 17, 2025. Does it look like a lot of fun?
