Luis Dias was a notable absentee from Liverpool’s 22-man training squad on Thursday, but Arne Slott has spoken about his availability at Brentford and revealed why.
The Reds were expected to be without only Joe Gomez due to injury for the trip to Brentford, but doubts arose for two forwards during Thursday’s session at AXA.
Neither Diogo Jota nor Dias were in attendance, with Slott revealing on Friday that the former was doubtful after feeling unwell again after scoring at Nottingham Forest.

Thankfully, injury is not an issue for Liverpool’s No.7 as he was forced to sit out with a sore throat, but Slott are hoping he will be available for the trip to Brentford.
“I think he’s OK, but I think he had a little bit of a sore throat yesterday that kept him out (of practice),” Slott told reporters regarding Diaz’s issues.
“But I think he will train with us today. But this still has to be heard, but we expect him to train with us today.”
Dias will be essential for Liverpool, who will be without Jota for Saturday’s match, as they need three points after two successive draws in the Premier League.
The Colombian player has been forced to isolate from the team to prevent the spread of any potential illness, and it will be up to the club’s doctors to decide whether he is safe to return.
There are still top options remaining in the slot, with Mohamed Salah, Codi Gakpo and Darwin Nunez training normally on Thursday, so it would be surprising if Brentford ended up relying on this trio. It’s not something you should do.
