Los Angeles record label Leaving has digitally released a new compilation to support artists affected by the California wildfires. The album Staying features artists such as Samantha Urbani, Eddie Chacon, Sam Wilkes, LaRaaji, Reggie Watts, Andre 3000, Samiyam, Brijean, Julia Holter, Total Blue, and many more. Label founder Matthew David curated and edited Staying with the help of Carlos Niño. Check out the new compilation below. Staying: Leaving Records Aid to Artists Impacted by the Los Angeles Wildfires will be available on vinyl and cassette soon.
Emmett Shoemaker explained in a statement to Leaving Records: “Instead of donating to third-party organizations, all proceeds will be donated to the numerous GoFundMes currently boosting recovery efforts and the profound and often heartbreaking act of mutual aid.” The donation will be made directly to the individual who received the donation. The 50% will be carefully and manually allocated to Los Angeles artists and music peers in need, as equitably as possible. In parallel, existing music that is already in circulation Refer to the Community Support Spreadsheet/Document. The remaining 50% of funds will still be allocated as equitably as possible to displaced Black families and communities affected by the fires (i.e. https:/ /gofund.me/3f23de7d).
Since the bushfires broke out last week, fundraisers have been held to support the likes of Diiv’s Zachary Cole Smith, rappers Fat Tony, Octo, Cora’s Tim D’Arcy and Madlib. Organizations like BeyGood and MusiCares are also donating to support wildfire relief efforts. A benefit concert is also scheduled for January 30th, featuring performances by Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Joni Mitchell, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more.
Nicholas Pedroza of Astro Nick and Bedridden also organized a philanthropic effort to support the Los Angeles Area Food Bank. The album is simply titled 2025 LA Fire Relief Comp and includes songs like They Are Gutting a Body of Water, Computerwife, Shower Curtain, and Sleep Habits. Find the new album below as well.
