Deal imminent

Alphonso Davies is set to commit his future to Bayern Munich. Transfermarkt can confirm an initial report by The Athletic that the Canadian men’s national team star is set to sign a new contract with the Bundesliga giants. Although reports suggested earlier this week that talks had collapsed, Bayern and Davies’ agency management-inc/beraterfirma/berater/6478″>ATG management kept the lines of communications open, and there was always a willingness to reach an agreement.
That compromise is now within reach. Davies is set to sign a four-year contract with a potential option for an additional year. Davies joined Bayern Munich from the Major League soccer side Vancouver Whitecaps in 2019. The original transfer fee was €10m but has since increased to €14m as Davies met several of the clauses in the original transfer agreement. The most significant one was him winning the Champions League with Bayern Munich in 2020.
With Davies staying at Bayern, the Whitecaps could still see other clauses being hit. Overall, the deal can grow to €20m. Davies currently ranks as the eighth most expensive sale in Major League soccer history. Signing Davies to a new contract has been a key business for Bayern Munich, director of sport Max Eberl. The left-back would have been a free agent this summer, and there was significant interest from Real Madrid. Losing Davies, who scored 12 goals and 34 assists in 218 games across all competitions. During his time at Bayern, Davies won the Bundesliga five times, the Champions League in 2020, the DFB Pokal twice, and the Club world Cup in 2021.
The contract extension could now create a domino effect. Bayern Munich are also in talks to renew the contracts with midfielder Joshua Kimmich and playmaker Jamal Musiala. Musiala and Davies are considered close friends and wanted to tie their future together at one club. With Davies done, expect significant progress with the Musiala extension as well.
