Amid allegations that AAP leader Sanjay Singh’s wife Anita Singh is not registered to vote in Delhi, Rajya Sabha MPs on Monday asked Bharatiya Janata Party MP Manoj Tiwari announced that it would file a defamation suit against the party’s IT chief Amit Malviya. , over their “fake” claims.
At a press conference in New Delhi, Mr. Singh raised the issue of “deletion” of names of Purvanchali voters in Parliament, which prompted BJP president JP Nadda to refer to the Purvanchali community as “Rohingiya” or “Bangladesh”. He said that he came to call them “people.” .
“These (Purvanchalis) people have been living in Delhi for 30-40 years and are working hard to improve the country’s capital. But you (Bharatiya Janata Party) are calling them Bangladeshi and We are calling them and deleting their votes,” Singh said.
Singh on Sunday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of trying to have his wife’s name removed from the voters’ list in New Delhi’s parliamentary constituency ahead of the Delhi assembly elections scheduled for February.
“When I raised the issue, they took revenge by filing an application to remove my wife’s name from the voters’ list,” the AAP leader alleged.
“(Manoj) Tiwari is spreading lies by claiming that my wife’s vote remains in Sultanpur. We need to see if there is,” Singh added.
“Although she voted in the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi in May, Tiwari cites an affidavit dating back to January. An application to remove her name from the voter list was filed in Sultanpur on January 4. has been submitted,” he said. “I will file a case against them for defamation. Malveer and Tiwari will have to go to court and answer for insulting me and my wife.”
Manoj Tiwari and Amit Malviya, according to an affidavit filed by Anita Singh, said that although the AAP leader and his wife voted in Delhi for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, she is from Uttar Pradesh. He claimed to be a registered voter of Sultanpur district. Her vote in Delhi was “invalid” and “illegal”.
Both the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders also demanded that the Election Commission take immediate action against this “serious violation”.
