Al Nasr are looking to strengthen their squad in the winter transfer window as the team struggles to catch up with title contenders Al Ittihad and Al Hilal. The club are reportedly eyeing the signing of the former Real Madrid team-mate, now at Manchester United, to support star player Cristiano Ronaldo.
Despite persistent rumors about Ronaldo’s possible exit from Saudi Arabia, the Portuguese icon has expressed that he is happy with life at Al Nasr, citing family peace and personal satisfaction. The club are pursuing the signing of a world-class player to further strengthen their relationship with Ronaldo, with manager Stefano Pioli prioritizing greater stability in midfield.
Al Nasr manager is targeting Brazilian midfielder Casemiro this transfer window, according to journalist Ben Jacobs. According to reports, Manchester United may be willing to let the player go for a fee of around 30 million euros.
Casemiro was also approached by Al Ittihad last summer, but the deal fell through after Manchester United demanded €70 million. However, under new manager Ruben Amorim, the Brazilian’s role at Old Trafford has diminished and he has become more open to a move to Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo and Casemiro played a pivotal role in Real Madrid’s golden era and achieved incredible success together. Their partnership resulted in multiple domestic titles and four UEFA Champions League trophies, including a historic trifecta in the 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons.
Is Casemiro close to joining Al Nasr?
Casemiro and Manchester United rejected the Saudi approach a year ago, but things have changed and the interests of all parties are now aligned to facilitate this move.
For Al Nasr, the club has the financial strength and team flexibility to make this deal a reality. If Casemiro accepts the offer, he will become one of the top five highest paid players in the Saudi Professional League. Additionally, the impending transfer of Andersson Talisca to Fenerbahce will create a valuable international spot on Al Nasr’s roster.
At Manchester United, Casemiro has struggled to adapt to Amorim’s tactical system and has seen his minutes reduced as a result. The Brazilian did not come on in important games against Arsenal (0-2 loss), Manchester City (2-1 win) and Liverpool (2-2 draw).
United have no intention of actively selling him, but it appears they would be willing to let him go if they paid the right price. The move could be a fresh start for the midfielder, with Al Nasr presenting a lucrative and attractive opportunity.
