Aston Villa are set to make a second bid for Sevilla defender Loic Bardet in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Villa have already had an offer “rejected” from the Spanish team.
Villa want to strengthen their defensive options after allowing Diego Carlos to leave for Fenerbahce this month, with manager Unai Emery making Bade his top target with Fikayo Tomori.
Sources have told Football Insider that the Premier League side are expected to return to Sevilla with another offer to sign the Frenchman.
Sevilla are open to letting the 24-year-old go this month as they have some financial problems and this move will help.
Villa’s owners have supported Emery financially during his time at the club, so if the right player is there, funding will be provided.

Loic Bade could strengthen Aston Villa
Bade has made 17 appearances for Sevilla this season and has only missed four games in La Liga, three of which were due to injury.
The central defender’s contract runs until 2029, and his current club are in a good position to negotiate a potential transfer this month.
Bade gained experience in England after signing a short season-long loan deal with Nottingham Forest, but he did not make any appearances for the club and his move was terminated prematurely.
Villa fans have recently expressed concerns about the direction the team is going in, with some believing the team is no longer listening to Emery.
These concerns were reported after Villa manager questioned the mentality of his players following their recent Champions League defeat to Monaco.
In other news, Stefan Bolson reports Aston Villa have made a profit of ‘7.5 million pounds’ after the deal is finalised.
