WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, who retired in 2019, recently announced that he will not be wrestling again. His last match took place at WWE WrestleMania 35, where he lost to Baron Corbin. Since then, fans have speculated that he might return to the ring.
Kurt Angle was John Cena’s first opponent when he debuted in WWE in 2002, and we heard that fans were anticipating a match between him and Cena during Cena’s retirement tour. During his retirement tour in 2019, Angle wanted Cena to be his final opponent. However, WWE’s Vince McMahon told him that he would have to wait another year due to Angle’s ongoing storyline with Baron Corbin. Angle also admitted that he wouldn’t be able to wrestle for another year.
Recently on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Kurt Angle revealed that he will not be able to wrestle John Cena on his retirement tour. He said he hasn’t been in the ring for a full fight, but he did appear in a commercial a few months ago.
He said: “I did a commercial for CBS, and it was an NFL pregame commercial for the Ravens and the Steelers. So me and a gentleman named Kyle Brandt, he’s a sportscaster for CBS, and he pretended to be the Ravens. I pretended to be the Steelers. There was a wrestling match and we bumped into each other.”
The WWE Hall of Famer revealed that he took part in a pro wrestling match for a commercial, but after getting hit in the back, he realized he couldn’t continue wrestling anymore.
Kurt Angle explains his decision to step away from the WWE ring
In the same interview, Kurt Angle explained that he knew he couldn’t wrestle anymore after throwing his hip out and being unable to walk for a week. My wife thought you’d never get in that ring again, and she was right. I shouldn’t have gotten in the ring, but I had a lot of fun getting in the ring. ”
Nevertheless, Ingres added: “But I would love to wrestle John Cena. Especially with the respect I have for him, I don’t think anyone would want to wrestle him in John’s retirement match more than me. I just can’t do that.”
Kurt Angle has had a number of health issues over the years, particularly with his neck, and recently revealed that he was unable to walk for a week after a bump. It is understandable why he is no longer able to wrestle as his health has to be a priority.
