Get ready for a busy day at Lingfield. Defending winner Rosenpool will headline live on Sky Sports Racing from 1.25pm.
1.25 Lingfield – Defending winner Rosenpool headline
Jenny Candlish’s Rosenpool had a good all-weather performance against the Wolverhampton newcomers in his last start, but Billy Loughnane came into the bat in place of George Wood and was five pounds heavier. Returning to the handicap company, he looks like a clear favorite to win.
Merrimack has run with confidence in similar events including second place from this mark at Chelmsford and expects another bold bid under Sean Levy in this Gambling Responsible BetUK Handicap .
Luke Dace’s The Defiant is a regular winner at this course and showed he’s still here Saturday in second place behind Master of My Fate.
Other horses to watch include Lee Commission and Harry Brown, with the former looking to end a run of 13 consecutive losses at this track since his last win here in December 2020.
12.55 Lingfield – Naughty Eyes and Mr McGregor clash
Trained by George Boogie, Naughty Eyes scored on his debut at Lingfield in November and finished third after receiving a penalty on the same course last month. She lacks a gear change in the latter effort, and a step up to 7F should suit this weekly free bet with the BetMGM Extra Restricted Novice Stakes.
Mr. McGregor has finished second in his last two starts and remains a virgin after 10 starts. Official rating is 68, but he may prove vulnerable here too.
Archie Watson and Holly Doyle team up with New Bay mare Enchanted Way. Fourth on her debut, she should be considered for an all-weather debut with a commitment to chase Lady Justice at home at Epsom in July.
2.25 Lingfield – Charlatan and Overnight Oats Feature
Jockey David Simcock’s Charlatan has been busy of late, winning at Southwell and finishing second at the same venue on Friday. Having gained 5lbs, he has the services of 7lb claimer Taryn Langley, who rules him out as he seeks his fifth career success in this Boost Your Accident at Bet MGM Handicap. I can’t do that.
Overnight Oats saw four minutes late last year, but has struggled in the past few starts. But James Owen’s five-year-old appreciates the decline in the class and wants to bounce back.
Kondratyev Wave and Claxton Bey completed the shortlist.
the best of the rest
Last time out against Wolverhampton, it looked like Roger Thiel’s Elexis had finally dropped a penny when he went after the impressive Karamei. One would imagine that with the BetUK Amateur Jockey Handicapped Weekly £5 Free Bet at Lingfield, she would come close if she increased her itinerary slightly to one mile and two furlongs. Four scenes will be her main competition and she will likely step down for this trip.
At 3.25pm, Billy Loughnane’s Mount Royal Observatory came out on top in BetUK: It’s Where The UK Bets Handicap for Kevin Frost, who was expected to return on the final day. Also keep an eye out for Tony Carroll’s Danehill Star, who enjoyed success over the course and distance earlier this month.
