The adventure travel Trade Association (ATTA) has introduced an exciting new benefit for business Members: access to self-paced online educational courses. Designed to support professional growth, this new benefit makes adventure travel education more accessible while also increasing the value of joining the ATTA as a business Member.
As of January 2025, business Members will gain access to ATTA’s Safety & Risk Management course as part of their membership benefits. In addition, members can unlock one additional course of their choice each year from ATTA’s library of online training topics, which includes business management, guide training, digital marketing and more.
“This is a natural progression of ATTA’s mission to support adventure travel businesses with resources that drive safety, sustainability, and success,” said Shannon Stowell, ATTA CEO. “Integrating these courses into our membership benefits makes it easier for businesses to access the tools they need to thrive in a competitive and ever-evolving industry.”
Meeting Industry Needs with Safety & Risk Management Education

Safety and risk management, in particular, are considered benchmarks for success in the adventure travel sector. Including the Safety & Risk Management Course with business membership will equip members with essential tools to refine safety protocols, mitigate risks, and build trust with clients. Taught by two leading experts in the industry, Fabio Raimo and Jean-Claude Razel, the course is designed to take adventure travel operators and managers through the complete process of setting up and running a safety management system in their operation of guided experiences.

This course is available to all current business Members and their employees, making it easier for entire teams to access and participate in critical safety training. By promoting a proactive approach to safety, this benefit supports both individual businesses and the broader adventure travel industry, helping to raise professional standards across the sector.
Unlocking More Value: Customized Learning for business Members
In addition to the Safety & Risk Management Course, business Members can unlock one additional course each year that aligns with their unique needs. Access to one online course—valued between $150 and $650—is now included in the price, making business Membership even more valuable for adventure travel professionals looking to take advantage of ATTA’s educational offerings.
“AdventureEDU courses support the development of a more qualified and skillful tourism workforce,” said Murray Bartholomew, ATTA’s Head of Education. “Expanding our online courses to members equips tourism leaders with the skills to remain competitive for tomorrow.”
The additional course inclusion aims to support business Members in expanding their expertise year after year with educational content specifically designed for the adventure travel industry. Whether the goal is improving business management, mastering digital strategies, or standardizing adventure travel guide training, members can choose an educational course tailored to their priorities. Additional courses can be purchased any time, or selected in a later year at membership renewal.

How It Works
Safety & Risk Management Course
It is important to note that membership benefits extend to every employee under a business Membership. The Safety & Risk Management course, Member HUB access, and a variety of resources are available to everyone on the team.
“This benefit is a great way to bring your entire team into the fold,” said Lesley Francois, ATTA’s Community Director. “Whether you have five or 50 employees, they can all access tools like the Member HUB, the Safety & Risk Management Course, and other membership perks. For this course, it’s not just about one person—it’s about elevating the whole team with valuable resources.”
Effective immediately, all ATTA business Members can access a unique Safety & Risk Management Course coupon code from their business Member benefits in the HUB. The HUB is available on a web browser and as an app in the Apple App store and in Google Play for Android users. All members sign in using their ATTA account information. If you don’t have an ATTA account, you can create one here. To add more team members to your account, business members can add colleagues here.
The Additional Course of Choice
While the Safety & Risk Management course is available to all business members and their employees, the annual course benefit provides access to one single-use online course each year. This is delivered by email to the primary contact of the ATTA membership account as a single-user, one-time-use code. The primary contact can choose to complete the course themselves or share the login with a colleague or employee to ensure the course benefits the team where it’s most needed.
The additional course is now available to all current business members, and renewing members will be able to unlock an additional course each year. Access to previous courses does not expire.
