Old Forge, New York — With its newest chairlift addition, Gore Mountain was able to replace a slower fixed-grip triple chairlift at the North Creek Ski Bowl with a detachable high-speed quad chairlift. However, the replaced lift was only installed in 2010, meaning that it’s still of very good quality.
In response, the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) donated the triple chairlift to McCauley Mountain (not to be confused with Macaulay Culkin). This past offseason, the small New York ski area installed the chairlift. It replaced the old double chairlift, which was built in the 1970s. It’s a game changer for McCauley Mountain, with an uphill capacity of 1500 people per hour, and it reaches the top station in under five minutes.
The chairlift made its debut on Friday, January 17th. Many people ended up going to the event as they celebrated McCauley’s new-to-them lift that will service this mountain for a long time.
Over at Gore Mountain, the North Creek Ski Bowl made its debut on Friday. This included the debut of the Hudson Chair, a new detachable high-speed quad chairlift. Other additions are also planned in this terrain pod, including a new base lodge and a zip coaster summer attraction.
