Davos, Jan 21 (PTI) European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday announced new plans to strengthen strategic partnership with the world’s largest country and democracy. He said the committee’s first stop would be India.
In a special address at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting here, he said the European Commission wants partner countries’ local industries to flourish. This is because it is also in the European Commission’s own interest.
“And we have partners all over the world, from Africa to the Indo-Pacific,” she said.
“My new commission’s first stop will be India. Together with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we want to strengthen our strategic partnership with the world’s largest country and democracy,” she declared. did.
The European Parliament re-elected her to a second term last July, and the new commission only recently began its formal work. His current term will last until 2029.
“We also believe in pursuing mutual benefits in our dialogue with China. All continents must cope with the growing burden of climate change, and its impacts cannot be ignored.”
She asserted that the Paris Agreement remains humanity’s greatest hope and that Europe will continue to adhere to this policy.
The President said the world has entered a new era of intense geopolitical competition. Severing global economic ties is in no one’s interest, she says.
“Europe will continue to seek cooperation with long-standing friends and countries with whom we share interests,” he added.
