Como manager Cesc Fabregas has insisted there is no truth to rumors linking the Como team with the transfer of Barcelona winger Ansu Fati this month.
Fati has fallen out of favor under manager Hansi Flick, with the winger left out of the squad for the last four games and is expected to leave Barcelona before the transfer window closes.
Como, led by former Barcelona midfielder Fabregas, have been named as potential candidates for the 22-year-old, but the Serie A side appear to be no longer interested after making initial inquiries during the summer.
“Some players are leaving and they already know that, but we will bring others in,” Fabregas said. “We have no plans to sign a striker.
“I asked about Ansu Fati six months ago, but now there is nothing.”
Finding a club to pay Fati’s reported £200,000-a-week wages is unlikely for Barcelona, who admit they will likely need to make a contribution to facilitate the end of his loan until February. There is a high possibility that there is.
Both West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur have been rumored, with interest also reported from Real Betis, but the La Liga side are closing in on signing Anthony from Manchester United and have given up on their pursuit. Very likely.
Fati spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion, but was unable to establish himself as a regular under manager Roberto De Zerbi.
