Mürren-Schilthorn is also home to one of Switzerland’s most enduring freestyle events: the Whitestyle Open. Born in 2006 with just 30 amateur riders, a couple of flashlights,
cd players and a passion for freestyle culture, the event has grown into an international spectacle. Today, the Whitestyle Open attracts top-tier athletes from around the world, combining high-energy competitions with a festival atmosphere that celebrates the spirit of freestyle skiing and snowboarding. It’s an event you won’t want to miss, whether you’re a competitor or a spectator. It will take place on 8/9 March 2025 in Mürren (Big Air) and in the Pända Snowpark (Slopestyle).

Safety First: Avalanche Training Centre
While freeriding offers exhilarating freedom, safety is paramount in the backcountry. Mürren-Schilthorn takes this seriously, providing resources to help skiers and snowboarders prepare for the challenges of off-piste exploration. A visit to the Avalanche Training Centre in Mürren is highly recommended. The system allows unsupervised practice of avalanche victim searches using transceivers and probes. It helps users train with emergency equipment under near-realistic conditions. Open to the public free of charge, it operates throughout the winter season.
