Yukimi, vocalist and co-founder of the Swedish group Little Dragon, has released her first solo album. “For You” will be released on March 28th via Ninja Tune. Today, Yukimi shared two news songs from the project: “Sad Makeup” and “Winter Is Not Dead.” Check it out below.
“I want this music to connect people with each other and give them the strength to step away from all the craziness on earth right now,” Yukimi said of For You in a press release. “I’m excited to embark on that journey myself. The expression feels really genuine.”
Last year, Yukimi previewed her single “Break Me Down,” co-written with Eric Bodine and Lianne La Havas, on “For You.” Bodine recorded drums, bass, and keys on the track, and La Havas provided guitar.
La Havas also appears on their new album, Steam of Consciousness, with De La Soul rapper Pozdunuos featured on “Jaxon” and Yusuke Nagano on “Feels Good to Cry.” For You incorporates a variety of musical styles, including jazz, soul, psychedelia, and electropop.
Little Dragon released their self-titled debut in 2007. They released their seventh and latest studio album, Slugs of Love, in July 2023.
