Date and Time: Thursday, December 12 from 10:00-11:00 am EST
Description: Please join U.S. Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt Herro Mustafa Garg, Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El Khatib, and Acting Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs Amy Holman, to learn more about business opportunities in Egypt’s healthcare and medical devices sector. This virtual event is taking place on December 12.
Egypt is strategically located at the crossroads of the Middle East and Africa. The country’s Universal Health Insurance System aims to provide mandatory health coverage to all residents, including a population of over 110 million people, which is expected to grow to more than 130 million people by 2030. Over the past decade, Egypt has undertaken a major project to improve its trade infrastructure, building thousands of kilometers of new roads and upgrading existing ports, with a focus on creating integrated logistics corridors connecting production areas to the Red Sea and Mediterranean. Egypt’s new National Health Strategy, announced in October, offers a roadmap for transforming and modernizing the country’s vast healthcare system over the next six years. Additionally, Egypt passed a new law in August 2024, allowing for private sector management of public hospitals, which will open new opportunities for trade and investment from U.S. companies.
Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade will explain the Egyptian government’s strategy for transforming its business climate and creating opportunities for American companies to contribute to important aspects of Egypt’s healthcare system. This will include an overview of Egypt’s new national healthcare strategy and how it is opening the market for more U.S. healthcare companies to do business here; best prospects for products and services for U.S. exporters in the healthcare sector; and regulatory changes on the horizon that will create more competition in the healthcare market.
We look forward to welcoming to this virtual event any U.S. firms interested in learning more about these trade and investment opportunities in Egypt’s healthcare and medical devices sector.
