Nottingham Forest could go from outsiders to genuine title contenders if they can complete a league double against Liverpool tomorrow night.
This will be the ultimate test for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, who have won their last seven games in all competitions without conceding a goal and their last five.
Liverpool manager Arne Slott said today he felt Tricky Trees were in contention for the title, but Nuno was a little more cautious.
he said: “We have to play. We’re here to play against all the teams and I think we’re doing well, but our approach won’t change anything.
“We know what we can do and how we want to do it. We know each other, our strengths and weaknesses. So let’s play the game.”

Asked if he felt Slott was playing mind games ahead of the clash at the City Ground, the Portuguese added: we will never change. It’s how we look at things and how we look at competition. You could say that’s how we look at life. Every day is just another day, if we focus on our work, tomorrow will be another tough day. ”
Forest go into the game six points behind Liverpool but have played more games but are confident they can beat the Merseysiders following their 1-0 win at Anfield in September.
That’s not to say Nuno showed a lot of respect for his opponent.
“Salah, Dias, Gakpo, Mac Allister, Grabenberg, Van Dijk, Konate, Trent… quality everywhere,” he said.
“They’re a great team. They’ve proven themselves not only in the Premier League, but also in Europe. We need to recognize this and go into the game with the real respect we need to play against Liverpool. It’s important to be present.”
team news
Nuno said there were “no major problems” with his team, with several bit players given a chance to impress in Saturday’s FA Cup win over Luton, which led to the team’s win over Wolves last Monday. He said there is a high possibility that he will return to the team he played in.
The same goes for Liverpool. They are still without defender Joe Gomez in the slot, but other than that they have a nearly full squad to choose from.
