Timothée Chalamet really sticks to the method. The “Completely Unknown” star will double-duty as host and musical guest on “SNL” on Jan. 25. This is his third time hosting the sketch comedy show, which is currently in its 50th season.
Chalamet stars in the Bob Dylan biopic, singing, playing the guitar, and playing and smoking the harmonica. It’s unclear whether Chalamet will sing Dylan’s songs, sing as Dylan, or appear with Dylan on SNL. Or do literally anything else musically. As his true fans are well aware (and from what I’ve just heard), Chalamet did a little rapping in high school for school projects and assemblies.
Watch him rap about his statistics class and his favorite teacher here.
Chalamet is nominated for a SAG Award, a Golden Globe Award and a Critics’ Choice Award for his role as Dylan in Complete Unknown, which is currently in theaters.
Dylan appeared as a musical guest on SNL in 1979 with host Eric Idle. Just last week, the sketch show parodied Chalamet (played by Chloe Fineman) and Dylan (James Austin Johnson) on the red carpet at the Complete Unknown premiere.

Chalamet’s episode follows Dave Chappelle’s return as host of “Saturday Night Live” on Jan. 18. This will be Chappelle’s fourth time. The comedian’s musical guest will be Glorilla, who will be making his “SNL” debut. Chappelle and Glorilla have both been nominated for Grammy Awards, Chappelle for his comedy album “Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer” and Glorilla for his single “Ya Gro!” In fact, GloRilla has two nominations for that one song.
“SNL” airs live on NBC every Saturday at 11:30 PM ET/8:30 PM PT. It will be streamed simultaneously on Peacock. The NBCUniversal streaming service archives each season of “SNL.”
After Chalamet broke the internet as host and musical guest, “Saturday Night Live” will be on hiatus until its 50th anniversary special in mid-February. The celebration will continue throughout the weekend and culminate with the live primetime “SNL50: Anniversary Special” on Sunday, February 16th.
“Saturday Night Live” is produced in association with Broadway Video. Creator and executive producer is Lorne Michaels.
