Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday slammed Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ramesh Bidhuri’s remarks about “cheeks” as “ridiculous” and “unnecessary”.
Priyanka told the media that such statements were distracting from the real issues and stressed that the focus should be on addressing the pressing concerns of the people of Delhi during elections.
“This is a ridiculous statement. He never talked about his cheeks. This is all unnecessary. Issues that matter to the people of Delhi should be discussed during elections,” the Congress MP said.
This was announced amid controversy over Mr. Biduri’s remark that if the Bharatiya Janata Party comes to power, all roads in Kalkaji will be made like “Priyanka Gandhi’s cheeks”.
AAP MP Sanjay Singh shared a video of Bidhuri’s purported remarks.
Bidhuri, the BJP candidate contesting against CM Atishi in the Kalkaji Assembly constituency, on Sunday expressed regret over his controversial remarks on Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
In an interview with ANI, Biduri clarified that his comments were made in light of Lalu Yadav’s remarks, and said that when similar remarks were made during his ministerial tenure, the Congress party He emphasized that he had remained silent.
But this is not the only political controversy leading up to the vote.
At another event on January 5, Bidhuri, who was addressing a public gathering, commented on CM Atishi’s surname and family.
“Atishi, who was Marlena, is now Singh. She has even changed her father,” Bidhuri said.
Reacting to the remarks, Arvind Kejriwal took to social media platform
He further asserted that the people of Delhi will not tolerate this and will give a befitting response to the Bharatiya Janata Party in the upcoming assembly polls.
The Delhi elections will be held all at once on February 5th, with vote counting scheduled to take place on February 8th.
The incumbent AAP, which won with a huge margin of 67 and 62 out of 70 seats in the last two terms, faces two tough challenges against the BJP and the Congress.
