IND vs ENG: The Champions Trophy is back after a 7-year absence. The last time it played in Australia, Pakistan emerged victorious, defeating India in the finals. This time around, the defending champions will be the official host for the tournament, while matches for India will be played in Dubai.
After the humiliating loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and being left out of the race to the WTC finals, India will look to bounce back in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, which they also won a decade back in 2013.
India will be playing the series against England, which will help the Men in Blue to gear up and fix their squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy. Since the poor form of several players, many young names might look to be featured in the playing 11 against England.
Three players who can make it to India’s 11 in the Champions Trophy:
3. Tilak Varma
The young Indian all-rounder Tilak Varma has been sporadic in the shortest format of the game for India, as his record looked exemplary in the historic twin hundreds scored in successive matches in South Africa.
Varma, who has emerged as one of the most promising middle-order batters for India, might now be included in the longer format of white-ball cricket as well, citing Tilak’s composure during the middle overs.
2. Nitish Kumar Reddy

Indian rising all-rounder NK Reddy made his debut for India in the Bangladesh T20 series and was immediately followed up into the playing 11 for the entire stint of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He emerged as the second-highest run-getter for India in the debut series in Australia.
Nitish Reddy can be the perfect backup for Indian veteran all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Pandya missed a long spell in the CWC 2023, which cost the Indian team big time.
1. Yashasvi Jaiswal
The last name on this list seems very intriguing, as Yashasvi Jaiswal has been India’s star batter and the highest run-getter of 2024, as he excelled across the two most vivid formats, including the test and T20 cricket.
Jaiswal’s absence is now being felt in the ODI format, as the likes of Shubman Gill’s lack of form have been pricking the eyes for a long time now, and a replacement seems eminent, with young and aggressive Jaiswal bringing in the left-hand combination alongside the right-handed skipper.
