This December, Transfermarkt brought you a whole new round of market value updates to conclude the year and reflect the latest changes in player’s values across the world. As we dawn on the beginning of 2025, it means we can now look back at which clubs gained the most squad market value across the last 12 months, and it makes for some interesting reading. So who are the clubs who have gained the most market value since January 1?
In the last 12 months, no club has gained more market value than Barcelona. The Catalan giants have gained +€196.5 million in market value, taking their squad value past the €1 billion mark to €1.01b. A large reason behind that has been because of 17-year-old Lamine Yamal, who himself has gained +€120m market value in 2024 alone. Behind Barca, is their El Clásico rivals Real Madrid, who have gained €195m over the last 12 months to take their new squad value to €1.23b. This has been largely helped by signing Kylian Mbappé (current market value: €160m), and their superstar Vinicius Junior reaching €200m this year.
Serie A pair Juventus and Atalanta are third and fourth respectively with a +€188.5m rise for Juve, and a +€161m increase for the Bergamo side. In fifth are Sporting, who went up by +€158.7m, largely aided by striker Viktor Gyökeres (current market value: €75m). Two Premier League sides feature in the top in Brighton (+€118.5m) and Southampton (+104.1m), with Liverpool (+€100.4m), Crystal Palace (+€57.2m), and Bournemouth (+56.2m) also in the top 20.
