Fans continue to mock Wayne Rooney and his side with chants during Plymouth’s defeat at Oxford on Sunday afternoon.
It was another defeat for the Championship’s bottom side, with questions raised over whether boss Wayne Rooney still be in charge for the visit of Bristol City on New Year’s Day after their winless run stretched to nine matches.
Goals from Ciaron Brown and Przemyslaw Placheta, who also both scored in the win over Cardiff on Boxing Day, helped Gary Rowett make it two wins from two as the new U’s gaffer.
@TBurrows16 tweeted: “It’s 1-0 #OUFC. Lovely cross in from Tyler Goodrham and headed home by big defender Ciaron Brown. Some #PAFC fans in the away end joining in with the #OUFC fans singing ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’, followed up with a ‘Wayne Rooney, your football is shit’
He added: “2-0 #OUFC. Przemyslaw Placheta, who looks a player reborn under Gary Rowett, with his second goal in four days after that Boxing Day wonder strike. ‘Sacked in the morning’ ringing round the Kassam.”
‘We want Rooney out’ were the chant sang from some of the plymouth fans in the away end after yet another defeat on the road.

People clapping that bollocks off? Seriously 😂 Rooney not coming near the fans, players putting in half arsed performances! Come on then @SimonHallett how’s the data doing now?? How’s that 5 year plan looking? Rooney here we won’t even be a yoyo club 🤙🏻 time to get rid #PAFC pic.twitter.com/et2IUSYtNT

Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle now sit four points from safety after losing at the Kassam Stadium, they also have also now conceded 18 goals in their last five away games without taking home a point.
Hull’s win at Blackburn sees them climb out of the bottom three, with Portsmouth dropping two places in the table following their 3-0 defeat at Bristol City.
Cardiff are up one place, thanks to taking three points at Watford.
Here’s how Twitter users reacted as fans continue to mock Wayne Rooney with chants during Plymouth’s defeat at Oxford…
@LOSNE38: Do the right thing @SimonHallett and pull the plug on Rooney. Hasn’t worked out at all. These things happen but it can’t get any worse than this! Irrespective of “injuries” this team looks utterly lost and devoid of any change in fortune. Sadly BCFC fans got this call spot on.
@TheGreenJanner: The effort put into that social media post sums up argyle in general “defeat” sums up everything that’s going on!! Sadly it’s time for Mr Rooney to go back home with his wife and kids!
@Davey_Alex1: I’m unsure if I’ve ever seen a group of players who look so disinterested, I don’t know how long this will last but Jesus wept things need to change Everything is an embarrassment. Always said it’ll be a circus and here we are. #pafc
@jack_pickle: Time up for Wayne, dislike hiring and firing managers, last 2 were very winnable games. Maybe delt a bad hand with injuries just as things looked to be getting going. Tentatively have Schumacher back in on the clubs terms, clearly no hard feelings between him and Hallett. #pafc
@John_Petrie: Rooney out. Dewsnip out. Argyle has to be about more than two men’s egos. Worst team in the league on every metric. Rock bottom. Worst manager ever. There’s your underlying data. I have zero faith in either to lead us forward. Change now before it gets properly toxic #pafc
@_cobibudge: I don’t think I’ve been as disillusioned by Argyle as I am right now. Low standards have become acceptable and the norm. It’s all rather depressing. #pafc
@WillcocksOli: @SimonHallett enough is enough. Show some cojones and do what’s right for our club. #pafc
@rockape7852: Everyone wanting Schuey back, you’re all assuming he wants to come back!! He left for more than a pay rise, Hallet refused him an increase in transfer budget, this problem is far bigger than the manager position, with not a pot to piss in who would want to manage Argyle ? #pafc
@TomSleeman11: Hopefully we can get a manager in who averages more points than pints over the course of a weekend. #pafc
@GynnHerbie: How much is a Plymouth Parkway season ticket? #pafc
@Gemmaaa1603: It actually just makes me sad. The fans are split, the lads have no fight, the board are reluctant to acknowledge what is happening to us and Rooney seems to be treating us like a holiday. This is not my club anymore. #pafc
@GilbsMark: Clueless, rudderless and hopeless, not a single player who would start for another championship team. Going down whoever the Manager is now, so “ IF “ investment comes in, save it until the summer for a complete rebuild. #pafc
@argyle_analyst: 4 points from safety. For the first time since we returned to the Championship, we are guaranteed to end the next matchday in the relegation zone. He cannot have another game, he must be relieved of duties tonight. #pafc
@danPAFC5: Get him gone ASAP. If the performances aren’t enough for the board to sack him, show the videos and let the club see what they have really employed, an alcoholic womanizer!! #rooneyout #pafc
@TomSleeman11: This game feels somewhat similar to the 5-1 Accrington defeat when Derek Adams left. A spineless performance, a manager that has alienated the fanbase, and a total feeling of helplessness watching the club you love sleepwalk towards relegation. #pafc
